The Dutch Transplant Foundation (NTS) has been formally designated as an organ centre by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. It is responsible for consulting the Donor Register, recruiting and screening tissue donors and allocating tissues. NTS advises the Ministry of Health on the national development of policy for donation and transplantation and collects and analyses data for scientific research. The NTS works together with hospitals where donors are recognised and reported, with organisations for removal and transport and with tissue banks and with university centers and hospitals where patients are ultimately transplanted.
